The World of Salil Chowdhury

Once again, Salilda scores high marks for composing songs for films which were never made. Its a pity really because no one knows how many such songs we have lost for ever. The plan was to make a Hindi version of Artap as well. The year was 1982. That was when Talat Mahmood requested Salilda to give him a chance to sing one of his songs. By then Talat had lost his popularity and the future looked grim. Salilda being a very generous person composed this wonderful song. I must say that I consider myself to be very lucky to have found this song - thanks to a kind hearted Salilda admirer from Delhi. The Hindi version is also available now. According to very reliable source after the recording of this song, the only tape which contained both the versions got "mislaid" - and it was never traced. After all these years it suddenly appears !
Was it stolen ? How come I get this song after all these years from someone who wasn't even sure if it was a Salil composition but suspected that it could be and carefully preserved it, until he came across to my website and got in touch with me.
