Early Salil compositions and contains some wonderful compositions. Lata's "teraa ghar aabaad rahe" is melancholic and beautiful. Shamsad Beghum's "na jaane re" is a rare gem and Rafi's "suno seeta ki kahaani" is a poignant ballad.
Salil shows his love and great respect for Rabindranath Tagore in Hemant's "mere man bhoolaa bhoolaa" which is based on a well-known rabindra sangeet "hridoyer ekul okul dukul bhese jaay"
