Although Talat Mahmood's first song for Salil was the beautiful duet "dil deewaanaa dil mastaanaa maane naa" with Lata in the film "Aawaaz" (1956), his fame as a superb actor and a singer in "Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani" carried him to new heights. Talat's songs in this film such as "jhoome re neelaa ambar jhoome ", "haay koi dekh legaa" with Lata and still one of his best songs ever "raat ne kyaa kyaa khwaab dikhaaye" will always remain, even after nearly 50 years, some of the best Salil compositions. |
